A regular visitor to Bute is looking from more information about a derelict building on the island which she hopes to completely refurbish.
Laura McNally from Johnstone, is hoping to track down the owner of a derelict house on the A886 between Rhubodach and Shalunt.
She said: “I am looking to find out who owns the derelict house on the road to Rhubodach ferry. It’s a cottage that sits on the bend after the farm.
“I have been coming to Bute for over 48 years. My family have been visiting for over 60 years. This wee house has always fascinated us as it seems to have been abandoned for years now.
“For a while, about six years ago, there were Polish squatters in it but they left in the winter time.
“A friend of mine, who grew up on Bute, remembers being told it was an old man that lived in it but he was a recluse and no one ever saw him.
“The local children thought he was a witch, as children do. She can’t remember anything else about it. Not even the person’s name.”
And it appears this isn’t the only empty property on Bute to have caught Laura’s eye.
She said: “There are many houses lying derelict. The farm house on the road from Stradd to Ettrick is another sad site. Beautiful big house lying wasted. So sad.
“I’m hoping to move to the island and would love to restore either house really.
“Does anyone know who owns these properties and are they for sale? I would love some info on these buildings.”
