Children from the island and beyond enjoyed an Easter activities day run by ‘Bute Churches Together’ in the Moat Centre recently.

The event follows on from a similar Christmas event and a three day summer activity programme held previously.

Reverend Elaine C Garman, assistant Curate Holy Trinity, Dunoon & St Paul’s, Rothesay & Diocesan Mission Enabler, thanked local organisations for taking part in the church’s Easter egg hunt held as part of this day of fun activities for youngsters.

She said: “The children at the Easter event went on an Easter egg treasure hunt, played active games in the hall, participated in crafts and fun activities and of course consumed chocolate in different forms!

“Many thanks are due to those who hid the eggs in their premises – the Police Station, Rothesay Castle, Rothesay Museum, the Discovery Centre, St Paul’s Church and of course the Moat Centre itself. It was great to have all this local involvement.

“A huge appreciation goes out to those who donated money, juice and Easter eggs – it was all enjoyed by the children. On their behalf, thank you.

“This year’s summer programme will be on Monday 9th , Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th July. The venue is still to be decided. Watch out for the advertising.”

One parent, who was visiting the island, said: “It was great to have something like this available. I’m so pleased we saw that it was on. We will be back for the summer programme!”
