A relative of a resident of Craigard has spoken out against the decision to close the home.
As we recently reported, the Care Inspectorate raised an order with the sheriff court to remove the Montford care home’s registration, citing a number of concerns including lack of information on risk management and issues surrounding medication.
This followed an unannounced inspection by the Care Inspectorate on September 28.
The report from that visit also alleged “some areas of the home were malodorous; this included some of the soft furnishings”.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, told The Buteman: “This is the worst thing that could ever happen. I have never smelt urine in the home in the past 20 months she’s been here, and I’ve never found anything but excellent care and attention.
“To have to find another home is ridiculous.
“I would say there is a care crisis here in Rothesay. It’s an elderly retiral island, and this is ridiculous.”
