Make a note in your diary for Saturday, August 17 - the date of a brand new cancer charity fun run for Bute in which you can choose the good cause you support.
Under the title of Bute Fights Back, the event offers the choice of a sponsored 5km or 10km walk or run, in which participants can raise funds for their favourite cancer charity.
The entry forms suggest one of six charities - Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Calum’s Cabin, Cancer Support Scotland and the Brianne Roberts Trust, all of them with a close connection to Bute - although there’s also the option for you to nominate a cancer charity of your choice.
Both the 5km and 10km events will finish at Mount Stuart; the 10km event starts at Rothesay Joint Campus at 1pm (run) and 1.30pm (walk) on August 17, with the 5km walk and run both starting at 2pm and taking place entirely in and around the Mount Stuart grounds.
Entry forms and sponsor forms are available - in exchange for a £2 registration fee - from three locations in Rothesay: The Buteman’s office in Victoria Street, the Calum’s Cabin shop in Tower Street and Print Point in West Princes Street. So don’t hang about - spread the word and pick up a sponsor form today!
