The people of Bute are gearing up to Stand Up to Cancer tomorrow (Friday, October 16), with the island’s biggest photocall taking place in Rothesay town centre.
Everyone is invited to come along to Guildford Square at noon to help form the shape of the Cancer Research UK logo, holding coloured balloons, while a drone flies above to take a snap of the participants below.
All you need to bring is £1 to donate to the Stand Up to Cancer pot!
There have been loads of different events going on this month, all raising money for this year’s campaign.
Special thanks go to The Grapes Bar, and in particular Ann Gordon, for putting on a Bingo and Quiz afternoon on Sunday which raised £178.
Ettrick Bay Tearoom have had big success by donating money from puddings sold, and they are looking forward to hosting the island’s cadets this Saturday for their car wash in the Tearoom’s car park from 11am onwards.
The Stand Up to Cancer team are also holding a ‘Ladies Night’ at Kingarth Hotel on Friday, October 23. Just pop into the Cancer Research UK shop in Montague Street and speak with Anna or one of the volunteers there for further information.
