Bute cancer support group wins award

An online support group that was started on Bute in April 2011 for women who have/have had womb cancer recently won an award.

Womb Cancer Support UK was given the award by the Society of Gynaecology Oncology for their efforts in raising awareness of gynaecological cancers, specifically womb cancer.

The Advocacy Champion Award (Europe) was given after WCSUK became a partner in the One Team One Goal worldwide coalition building campaign to unite gynaecological oncology practice and advocacy groups around the world.

The founder of the group, Kaz Molloy, and Debra Parry, the fellow womb cancer survivor who helps run the group, both received a surprise award through the post last week.

Kaz said “I was very surprised when the parcel arrived as, although we knew WCSUK had been given the Advocacy Champion Award, neither myself or Debra actually expected to get an actual physical trophy! We actually got one each, so are both very honoured to receive them.”

The support group runs via Facebook and can be accessed by clicking on the link to the right of this article.
