Argyll and Bute Council has launched a public consultation on parking and waiting restriction proposals in Bute and Cowal.
The council took on responsibility for enforcing parking restrictions across the area in May 2014, meaning traffic can be managed effectively and parking turnover is maintained within busy town centres.
Following a period to allow these changes to take effect, a review was planned to highlight any issues and to make modifications to address these as far as possible. This is the process which the council is currently going through.
The consultation will run until Monday, September 12.
The proposed changes to parking arrangements on Bute include:
- the introduction of ‘no waiting/no loading’ restrictions on Ardbeg Road from Wyndham Road to Marine Place;
- the introduction of a 20mph zone in Rothesay town centre;
- a 1.5 tonne maximum weight limit for car parks to be removed as vehicle weights have generally increased since the order was raised a number of years ago;
- the changing of car park regulations so that cars and vans are allowed to park in them, whilst issuing PCNs to larger vehicles, trailers and caravans.
