Games boss to be Bute’s chieftain

The chief executive of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games has been named as the chieftain of this year’s Bute Highland Games.

David Grevemberg will follow in an illustrious line of past chieftains when he is presented with the ceremonial cromach at the Games on Saturday, August 24.

Mr Grevemberg joined the Commonwealth Games’ organising committee as its director of operations in October 2009, and was made chief operating officer nine months later.

Before joining the Glasgow 2014 team, he was the executive director of sport and international federation relations at the International Paralympic Committee.
