A mere three weeks after opening, thrift shop ‘For Bute’ in Victoria Street has presented their very first cheque to an island organisation - for a whopping £1100!

Beryl Dooley, Mark Ashcroft and Marlene Hill are behind the venture, which seeks to raise money for good causes on Bute - and were delighted to present a cheque to Bill McQueen and Helen Jean Pearson of Bute Community Links on Friday.

“It’s due to the generosity of the people of Bute that we’ve been able to present this cheque for £1100 to Bute Community Links,” Marlene told us. “We’d like to say a big thank you to our army of volunteers, and to ask people to please keep their donations coming!”
