We’ve got a gym induction voucher for Rothesay Leisure Centre up for grabs for the Buteman reader who can supply the funniest, most inspiring, most thought-provoking or most memorable comment or story about walking or cycling on Bute.
The prize has been contributed by Towards Zero Carbon Bute, the organisation set up in 2009 to cut the island’s carbon footprint, as part of a week of activities promoting ‘active travel’ on Bute.
To have a chance of winning the voucher, all you need to do is share your story or comment with us! You can post it here as a comment on this article, or on our Facebook page, email it to email@example.com or even post or hand in your entry to The Buteman, 5 Victoria Street, Rothesay, Isle of Bute PA20 0AJ by Friday, September 13 at 12 noon.
TZCB’s week of ‘active travel’ activities, promoting the benefits of walking or cycling to school or work instead of taking the car, also includes the launch of an Active Travel Map for the island, at the Green Tree Cafe in the Moat Community Centre in Stuart Street on August 9 at 5.30pm.
In addition there’s an Active Travel breakfast club on September 10 from 8-9am, also at the Green Tree Cafe, two one-hour ‘Consider Cycling’ workshops at TZCB’s headquarters at 7 Castle Street, Rothesay (also on September 10), plus ‘active travel’ displays at the Green Tree Cafe throghout the week.
