Rothesay Academy pupil Nisha Middleton achieved the remarkable feat this week of being presented with the school’s top academic award for the second year.
Nisha, who won the Gilmour Trophy as an S5 pupil in 2014 - following in the footsteps of her brother Robbie, who received the prize the year before that - was presented with her prize by airline captain and former Academy head boy John Shaw.
Certificates for general excellence were presented to pupils from S1 to S6 before the award of the school’s main prices and principal academic awards to the senior pupils who achieved the best results in this summer’s SQA exams.
This year’s prize winners were as follows.

The Thomson Gold Medal and Rothesay Academy Memorial Prize for mathematics, the Thomson Gold Medal and Rothesay Academy Memorial Prize for science, and the Morrison Award for academic excellence in S5 - Caitlin McIntyre.
Thomson Gold Medal and Rothesay Academy Memorial Prize for modern languages - Marcela McMillan.
Thomson Gold Medal and Rothesay Academy Memorial Prize for English - Douglas Zavaroni.
The Peter Lingard Prize for music and the John McKinnon Prize for art - Conor MacDonald.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for history - Douglas Zavaroni.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for geography and the James S. Miller Prize for biology - Maggie Catlin.
The James Bicker Prize for PE - Calum Tipping.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for graphic communication - Amy Dunn and Joe Woolnough.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for chemistry - Natasha Crawford.
The W.S. Shaw Prize for mathematics - Stephanie Lilley.
The Bute Charitable Trust Prize for English - Caitlin McIntyre.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for French - Craig McLean.
The Rothesay Academy Prize for physics - Nisha Middleton.
The Golden Jubilee Cup for home economics and hospitality (presented by Bute SWRI) - Lauren Cummiskey.
