Scotland’s exam helplines go live this morning (Tuesday, August 6) as pupils on Bute and throughout the country receive their results.

The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) results helpline (0808 100 8000) is open from 8am to 8pm on August 6 and 7, 9am until 5pm on weekdays until August 14, and 10am to 6pm at weekends, with advisers on hand to give information about course vacancies, clearing, employment and training opportunities and exam re-sits.

Information is also available from the SQA on the content and layout of exam certificates (0345 279 1000) and from UCAS on the availability of university places (0871 468 0468).

Exam pass rates in Scotland have increased for Highers, Advanced Highers, Standard Grades, Intermediate 1 and 2 and Access 2 and 3.

This is the final year of the Standard Grade exams, which were introduced in 1986 but are now being replaced by the new National 4 and National 5 qualifications as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.
