Court: Rothesay man admits police assault charge

A Rothesay man admitted assaulting police who were called to remove him from a flat in the town when he appeared at the local sheriff court on Monday.

Andrew McCuish (54), address given as Flat 3/2, 11 Albert Place, kicked an officer on the body and tried to punch him in the incident at a property in the town’s High Street on May 17.

McCuish also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats in the same incident.

Sheriff Ruth Anderson told McCuish she was prepared to give him “one final chance” and ordered him to be of good behaviour until October 14.

* Steven Dickson (30) was fined £100 at Rothesay Sheriff Court on Monday after admitting being in possession of a small quantity of cannabis.

Dickson, whose address was given as Flat 2/1, 77 Montague Street, was found with the drug at his home address on October 19 last year.
