Argyll and Bute Council has said it is working with Bute Brew Co. to find alternative premises to allow the island-based company to expand.

The authority - in a statement from a council spokesperson - said: “We are working with the Bute Brew Company to find premises that will help the business expand, as we would with any other business looking to the council for support.

“We are keen to do all we can to help local businesses grow and prosper.”

The statement follows criticism from Bute councillors, Argyll and Bute’s MP Brendan O’Hara and MSP Michael Russell, who are seeking answers as to why the old slaughterhouse in Rothesay was taken off the table as a potential site for the micro-brewery.
