Eight-year-old North Bute Primary pupil, Holly Black, had the honour of switching on Port Bannatyne’s Christmas lights on Saturday night.

Holly was the winner of a poster competition held by the Port Gala Day committee, and she was all smiles as she flipped the switch to the lights which now illuminate the shoreline of the village.

Following thanks from Councillor Robert Macintyre to all who assisted in raising funds for this year’s lights, and to those who helped install them, the crowd headed for the village hall where Santa and his helpful elf were waiting to meet all the children.

The pupils of North Bute Primary School treated everyone to some wonderfully festive songs, and there were hot drinks and various goodies on offer to warm up cold visitors.
