Ferry, train and bus timetables to, from and around Bute are all subject to change over the Christmas holiday period - here’s all the information you’ll need if you’re using local public transport over the next few days.
Both of CalMac’s Bute ferry services will operate to a normal weekday timetable on December 24, but there is no service on either route on Christmas Day.
On Boxing Day, a normal Saturday timetable will be in operation on the Rothesay-Gourock service, while the Rhubodach-Colintraive ferry will sail to Sunday times, but with an earlier finish than usual; the last departures will be at 6pm from Colintraive and 6.10pm from Rhubodach.
For those travelling a little further afield, there are no services on any CalMac route on Christmas Day, and there won’t be any sailings on the Tarbert-Portavadie route on December 26 either.
ScotRail’s train services will operate as normal on Christmas Eve, but finishing earlier than normal - services will start to wind down from about 9pm, though all advertised train connections at Gourock will still operate.
There are no ScotRail services on Christmas Day, and on Boxing Day an hourly service will operate on the Gourock-Glasgow line, leaving Glasgow Central at six minutes past the hour and leaving Gourock at 38 minutes past.
Finally, West Coast Motors’ Bute buses will finish early on Christmas Eve, and there are no local bus services on December 25 or 26.
Bus, train and ferry services will return to normal with a Sunday service on Sunday, December 27.
