Bute-based charity Calum’s Cabin welcomed local supporters and backers from far and wide to a 16-mile ‘Practice Kiltwalk’ on the island on Saturday.
The event was a ‘dry run’ for those planning to support Calum’s Cabin in the Glasgow Kiltwalk, from Hampden Park to Loch Lomond on Sunday, April 24.
Saturday’s walk gave participants the chance to visit the two homes on the island where Calum’s Cabin provides short breaks for families with seriously ill children - first Calum’s Cabin Cottage, at Eastlands Park on the edge of Rothesay, and then Calum’s Cabin itself at St Ninian’s Bay.
A lunchtime pit-stop a the nearby Straad Hall shortly after the visit to the Cabin provided the perfect pick-me-up for the group as they headed back towards Rothesay, and the finishing line at the charity’s shop in Tower Street, via Ettrick Bay and Kilchattan Bay.
