Community groups on Bute are being encouraged to apply for funding from Argyll and Bute Council’s Third Sector Grants programme.
The programme is now seeking applications for its second round of funding awards in 2015-16 - and still has £6,000 available to give out to groups in the Bute and Cowal area.
The first grant awards from the scheme for the current financial year were made in April and saw six Bute projects, among them the Bute Community Land Company, Rothesay and District Pipe Band and VisitBute, receive a total of £15,650.
The remaining £6,000 will be divvied up when the council’s Bute and Cowal area committee meets in August - but the deadline for applications to the fund is Monday, June 15.
The council’s guidelines recommend that only new applicants to the fund should receive all or most of the amount requested; projects which have previously been supported by the fund should not receive more than in the past, and may be subject to a 20 per cent reduction on the previous year’s allocation, to reduce dependency on support and encourage the groups to organise their own fund-raising initiatives.
Argyll and Bute Council’s policy lead for community and culture, Councillor Robin Currie, said: “This is one of the ways that the council can support community organisations to bring their ideas and projects to life and make them happen. As well as the grant funding currently on offer, our community development and social enterprise teams can also provide help and advice.
“We are particularly keen to encourage new groups with fresh ideas to come forward, so if your organisation could benefit from Third Sector Grant programme funding, please send in your application before Monday 15th June.”
Application forms are available from local area community learning offices or can be accessed by clicking here.
