Bute’s Easter celebrations will be showcased in a BBC Radio Scotland programme to be broadcast on Easter Sunday.
‘An Island at Easter’, to be broadcast at 8.05am on March 31, was recorded early last week at various locations around the island, including a small act of worship at St Mary’s Chapel in Rothesay, led by the leaders of the Christian congregations on the island.
The programme will be presented by the Rev Owain Jones, minister of the United Church of Bute and a regular contributor to the station’s religious programming.
The BBC’s own description of the programme says: “Owain looks at the people and places of the island, tracing connections between its ancient stones and the people living there, and the message of Easter.
“The quality of life for many on the island, and the sheer beauty of the place, foster an impression of transcendence and escape from ordinary life.
“Yet the challenges of modern living still confront its inhabitants. Owain marks Easter Sunday with stories of Bute’s past and present and the strength of the human spirit.”
