The first visit to Bute by the Harley Davidson Riders’ Club of Great Britain has been praised by organisers and participants alike.
A total of 235 people, on some 150 Harleys from all over the UK and beyond, took part in the weekend-long event, which drew to a close on Sunday morning.
Rothesay resident and Harley owner Bert Reid, the treasurer of the Region 2 branch of the club, which organised the rally, told The Buteman: “It’s been a great weekend - the guys taking part have absolutely loved it.
“The weather’s been fantastic, the food’s been fantastic, the locals have been so friendly - everything’s been spot on.
“A lot of people who were visiting Bute for the first time have commented on how beautiful it is and how they’re going to come back soon.”
Participant Arthur Robinson, who travelled to the rally from Buckhaven in Fife and won the ‘best sportster’ prize for a bike he was riding for the first time after working on it all winter, said: “I’ve had a great time. The island is beautiful and the hospitality has been tremendous.
“Credit to Bert and his crew - it’s been a really good weekend.”
