A packed programme of activities next month will help boost Bute's fund-raising efforts in aid of this year's Stand Up to Cancer campaign.
Organised by the staff and volunteers of Rothesay's Cancer Research UK shop in Montague Street, members of the public will be invited to join in the fun and in doing so raise money to help in the fight against cancer.
On Saturday, October 22, there will be a sponsored 5k walk from Guildford Square to Ardencraig and back. The walk will start at 2pm, and sponsorship forms are available to collect from the shop in advance.
Ettrick Bay Tearoom will, once again, match-fund on their 50p Stand Up to Cancer desserts during the October break, and the island's cadets will also hold a car washing day at the tearoom's car park on Saturday, October 22.
A treasure hunt around town will also be held during the October school holidays - you can pick up instructions from the shop and follow the clues around town for a chance to win a prize. Entry is £3.
Fund-raising duo Alex Robertson and his son Mikey will be taking on the Five Ferry Challenge on October 20-21, cycling a 71-mile circuit in 24 hour. Pop in to the local shop in Montague Street to find out how to make a donation.
Local building contractor, George Hanson, has also kindly offered to buy brand new Stand Up t-shirts for all of the Cancer Research UK shop volunteers.
A host of different fund-raising activities will be taking place throughout next month, including a 'onesie' day at the joint campus, a ladies cocktail evening at Kingarth Hotel, and a Halloween day in the Cancer Research UK shop, details of which are still being finalised.
