A holiday flat on Bute for familes left bereaved by the death of a child has welcomed its first visitors.
The flat, at The Terrace in Ardbeg, has been comprehensively renovated over the last few months by its owner Anthony McMahon, whose brother John Paul was killed in a road accident in 1984, when Anthony was just 11 years old.
“We used to go for days out to Bute when I was a child,” Anthony told us, “and I thought one day I’d like to do something for bereaved parents and families too.”
Families can find John Paul’s Retreat through The Compassionate Friends, a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents.
