Local walking group Bute Ramblers will be busy over the coming months, with weekly walks planned on the island and further afield.
This Saturday the group take a six-mile walk on the West Island Way from Rhubodach to Port Bannatyne. The group will take the 8.19am bus north from Guildford Square. On January 26, it is the West Island Way again, this time an eight-mile walk from Rhubodach to Bull Loch on the Balnakeilly Burn circular, meeting in their cars at 10am at West Kirk car park.
On February 2, it is a four-mile walk from Knocknicol Wood to Rothesay via the West Island Way. The group will take the 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square. On February 9, it is a six-miles route – Kilchattan – Kelspoke – Craig a’ Chlaideimh – Kingarth. They will meet on the 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square.
On February 16, the group will leave the island for either the six-mile Kelly Cut walk or the 11-mile Greenock Cut walk. The ramblers will get the 9am ferry to Wemyss Bay.
The group will walk the five -mile Rothesay to Port Bannatyne circular on February 23. Meet at 10am at the Discovery Centre cafe. On March 2 it’s a four-mile walk from Kerrycroy to Rothesay via Loch Ascog and Montford, leaving on the 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square. On March 9, Bute Ramblers will take a six- mile walk from Moor Road to Kingarth, setting off at 10am from the Discovery Centre.
On March 16, it’s a six mile route – Kilchattan – Glen Callum – Janet’s Wall – Kingarth. Catch the 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square.
On March 23 the group will take a nine mile walk from Toward Chinese Pools to Innellan. Leaving on the 8.19 bus north from Guildford Square. And the last planned walk currently in the diary is on March 30, a four mile ramble from Piperhall to Kingarth via the caves and the beach. Meeting for the 9.45 bus south from Guildford Square.
