An outreach worker on Bute has been recognised for her excellent work and put forward as an example of good quality practice.

Heather Tierney is a Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) community telecare outreach worker covering Cowal and Bute.

As an outreach worker Heather deals with a broad range of home health monitoring equipment which includes sensors and alarms to enable people to continue living independently in their own home, while minimising risks to personal wellbeing and safety.

Following a visit from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), the assessor said that Heather’s work was excellent and can be used as an exemplar of good quality practice for those studying telehealthcare.

Debbie Holroyd, the HSCP telecare service co-ordinator, was delighted.

She said “I am really pleased for Heather attaining the Professional Development Award (PDA) in Telehealthcare.

“To be informed that her excellent good practices will be shared with many others studying for the PDA in Scotland was exciting and excellent news”.
