A BUTE community councillor is backing a national campaign for the government to include community transport services in the national concessionary travel scheme.
Frank Baxter, who deals with BCC’s transport matters, was made aware of Age Scotland’s ‘Still Waiting’ campaign, which calls on the Scottish Government to adjust the Concessionary Travel Scheme so the bus pass can be used on Community Transport Services.
Frank said: “Heavy cuts are being made to community transport, and it’s set to get progressively worse. Age Scotland are trying to get the government to include community transport in the national concessionary travel scheme, which would allow community buses to claim back on their expenses.”
Frank further explained that he has sent away for a campaign pack from Age Scotland and has received the support of members from the Bute Forum for Older Voices, and is keen for others who feel community transport should be included on concessionary travel to get involved.
