The coffers of children’s charity Spirit Aid received a boost of more than £1,400 this week as Rothesay’s annual comedy night made a welcome return to the Bute events calendar.
Comedians Pat Rolink, Ross Leslie, Carina MacLeod and Graham Mackie took to the stage at the 292 Club to help the charity, which works with children and young people in Afghanistan, Africa and the west of Scotland.
The proceeds from ticket sales and auction prizes which included a two-night stay in Mount Stuart’s self-catering accommodation, signed Celtic and Rangers tops and a framed photograph of Wayne Rooney scoring one of the most spectacular goals of his career, an overhead kick for Manchester United in 2011, came to a total of £1,411.
* We took the opportunity to grab a quick chat with Pat Rolink - who is also the vice-president of Spirit Aid - before the gig. Find out what he had to say about the charity, and Rothesay, in the next edition of The Buteman - on sale from Thursday, April 9.
