Bute charity, The Brianne Roberts Trust, has been awarded a grant to help with the running costs of providing a free holiday home facility for families coping with childhood cancers.
The grant – awarded by the Weir Charitable Trust which was set up in 2013 by Chris and Colin Weir following their £161m win on the EuroMillions’ draw in 2011 – will enable the local charity to cover the costs of the holiday home and allow the team to improve on the facilities on offer.
Committee member Stuart Gordon said: “As the newest member/trustee, I am very much still finding my way around how the group works. I have thoroughly enjoyed my short time so far and I am looking forward to being a part of all the good work the trust can do for many years to come.
“As a young charity we are all very enthusiastic about what we do now and in the future. The enthusiasm and excitement generated at our recent meeting thanks to the generous award by The Weir Charitable Trust is hard to describe.
“We are all looking forward to the boost this award will give us, and would like to thank the Trust for helping The Brianne Roberts Trust make a difference!”
