A NEW branding concept for Bute has been officially launched.
The new brand - the result of a partnership between VisitBute and Blue Square Design - was unveiled at a meeting in the Victoria Hotel in Rothesay this week.
VisitBute chairman John McGhee told those present: “Everyone appreciates that tourism is key in the island’s economy. Bute isn’t doing as well as some other holiday destinations, but it has the potential to.
“Our aim is to get more tourists here, to spend more money in your businesses and shops. Branding an area doesn’t solve things, but what it does is give you a ticket to the game.”
Mr McGhee explained that with funding from LEADER and Visit Scotland, the company can continue its work for a second year, but that by year three, VisitBute must become self-sufficient.
“We need to make sure Bute is a place unique from all others,” he said, “and to do that, we need all of you to get behind it.”
The logo itself was inspired something all visitors would encounter on their journey to Bute – sea birds. The shape of the B in ‘Bute’ resembles a flying bird, and the letter can be altered and adjusted for use in island projects and events, such as a double bass for the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival.
