Hope on horizon for Rothesay furniture store?

ONE of Rothesay’s longest-established local companies could be on the verge of being saved from closure, according to one of the partners in the firm.

Graham Robertson, one of the two partners in furniture firm A. Robertson and Son, announced on Tuesday that he was “hopeful of a resolution to the partnership dispute” which brought about the possibility that the family firm and its shop in the town’s Argyle Street would have to close after 129 years.

Mr Robertson said: “A tentative agreement exists between the partners that, subject to finance, may allow the continuance of the store.”

We are currently trying to contact Graham’s brother Ian, the other partner in the firm, to seek his view on Tuesday’s announcement.
