An S1 class from Rothesay Academy have been busy designing brochures to promote the island as part of a project run by computing teacher Mr Tony Greer.
Ricky Harrison from the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre spoke to the pupils about the various tourism attractions on the island and gave them advice on designing a Bute-targeted brochure, while VisitBute also lent support to the students.
The standard of designs was extremely high and the Discovery Centre’s manager Hazel Mulholland had a difficult time singling out three brochures as the winners.
In first place was Blair Cross, with Blair receiving a £20 gift voucher for Amazon in addition to his brochure being put on display in the Discovery Centre during the summer season. Second place was Thomas Howat who received two cinema tickets for the Discovery Theatre and third place went to Finlay Cairns who received a box of chocolates.
Mr Greer told us he hoped that the brochure project will become something the entire first year get involved in.
