Argyll and Bute Council is to lower the flags which fly from its council buildings as a mark of respect following the death on Thursday of Nelson Mandela.
Provost and Bute councillor Len Scoullar said of South Africa’s first black president: “His struggle was for his own country. His triumph was for all of us.
“Nelson Mandela showed the world that change where it is really needed is always possible. He leaves us sad about his loss, grateful for his life and immensely inspired by his legacy.”
