Puppet festival returns to Bute

SCOTLAND’S annual Puppet Animation Festival, the country’s largest celebration of theatre for children, is back for a 28th time - and once again there are two shows in Rothesay to keep Bute’s younger residents entertained during the Easter school holidays.

The first, this coming Tuesday, April 5, is Diving Belle, an appropriately nautical show for the seafront venue.

The Clydebuilt website describes Diving Belle like this: “Join us as we dive into the magical world of Belle’s Carousel Cafe, Tom the lighthouse keeper and the glittering undersea world that surrounds these friends.

“Tom fishes by the jaggedy rocks and watches the ships by night. Belle makes such delicious ice cream for her customers. Everything seems fine and dandy, until one day a storm brews up. Must Belle reveal her Magical secret?”

Diving Belle is a story of friendship, told with table-top puppets, original music and a large dollop of ice cream - but watch out for that crab!

Diving Belle lasts for 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged 3-7.
