For this week’s trip in to the past we feature another of Rothesay Academy’s bygone sports teams courtesy of the school’s former PE teacher and depute head Jim Bicker.
This is not the first time we’ve pictured an Academy rugby team from 1970-71, though this team is rather more youthful than the one which appeared on March 13 - and, as keen observers of rugby union will note, this group is also rather short of the number required for a full fifteen-a-side team.
If you can help identify any - or all - of the members of the team, please get in touch with us by calling (01700) 502503 or emailing email@example.com.
* Many thanks to the readers who got in touch to identify the members of an Academy girls’ hockey team which we featured last week.
We now know the names of everyone pictured, the year it was taken, and the occasion - our thanks go to Carolyn Marshall, Christine Durnan, Angela Scott and Pauline McCubbin, who’ve all helped put names to faces.
Those pictured were as follows:
Back row, left to right: Pamela Weir, Janice Thompson, Christine McLean and Susan Buckeridge.
Front row, left to right: Janice Sinclair, Margaret Martin, Janice Reid, Helen Murray, Angela McNeil, Carolyn Marshall and Julie Glen.
The photo was taken in 1973-74, and was snapped before the girls headed off to face a team from Dunoon.
