The director of the forthcoming Rothesay Academy production of Beauty and the Beast says the magic of the stage show made it an irresistible challenge.

Julie Henry spoke to The Buteman during a brief break from rehearsals - and from her day job as Rothesay Primary’s senior teacher - as the clock ticks down to the three performances of the show, on June 16, 17 and 18.

“I wanted to do Beauty and the Beast because of the magic in the show and the diversity of characters,” she said.

“I’ve been in a production of Beauty and the Beast myself, and I enjoyed it so much - the costumes and make-up are so crazy and it’s so much fun to do - so I wanted to try and bring that to our school and share that enjoyment with our pupils.”
