While most of us have been enjoying the summer weather, soaking up the sun’s rays while we can, work has already begun on this year’s Christmas pantomime, organised jointly by Bute Amateur Players and Achievement Bute.

Auditions for principal roles (adults and young people over the age of 12) will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at Rothesay Pavilion from 6pm-9pm. Audition registration forms and audition scripts can now be collected from the Achievement Bute office, in Castle Street, Rothesay, in advance.

Younger children will also play a large part in the production, and any child of school age can apply to join the children’s cast by completing a form available from the Achievement Bute office.

An appeal has also been issued to members of the public, asking that anyone able to contribute in any way to the community panto get in touch. Volunteers are also being sought for prop-making, costumes, and scenery design.

There’s plenty to do behind the scenes too, and volunteers are needed for the backstage crew, sound and lighting crew, front of house team, wardrobe, hair and make-up team. If you can lend a hand in any way, please contact Irene McGregor on (01700) 505411 or pop into the Achievement Bute office.

Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, September 2, and will be held every Tuesday evening in the Pavilion. Children’s rehearsals will be at 6pm and adult rehearsals will be from 7 - 9pm.

Don’t forget to make a note in your diaries of the Pantomine’s performance dates: Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13.
