The Young Musician of the Year competition organised by the Rotary Club of Rothesay takes place tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm.

The contest, at Rothesay Joint Campus, will feature the best young musicians from the school, divided into vocal and instrumental sections.

The two winners will go forward to the west of Scotland district finals of the competition, to be held at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow in February.

This year’s judging panel has an ecclesiastical theme - it comprises the Rev Owain Jones, minister of the United Church of Bute, Father Michael Hutson of St Andrew’s Church, and Trinity Church organist Lyn Bulloch.

Entry is by donation on the door, and a warm welcome awaits to a superb evening’s entertainment.
