The organisers of the ‘Rock the Prom’ Bonfire Night celebration in Rothesay have announced that X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald will perform at the 2015 event.

Light Up Bute announced via Facebook that 18-year-old Nicholas - runner-up to Sam Bailey in the 2013 series of the ITV show - has been booked for the event on the Rothesay promenade on Saturday, November 7.

He’ll be joined on the bill by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Alex Keirl and local acts Dark Stanley, Beth Swan and Bob Asher, with more performers to be announced in the coming months.

Light Up Bute was formed early last year with the aim of raising enough money, at a series of community events during the year, to bring a public fireworks display back to Rothesay after a long absence.

The inaugural event, held on November 8, 2014, attracted hundreds of people to the town’s promenade and included games and fairground rides as well as the fireworks display itself.
