VIDEO: Robert Henderson stars in Bute jazz gig

Trumpeter Robert Henderson was the star guest performer on Sunday in the latest ‘Jazz at the Vic’ concert organised by the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival.

Robert, whose musical career stretches back more than 35 years, performed to great acclaim at the 2013 festival, playing alongside Bute jazz stalwart Bobby Wishart, though his return visit on Sunday saw him joined on stage at the Victoria Hotel by the Tim Saul Trio - actually a quartet, featuring Tim Saul himself on keyboards, David Gray on drums, Paul McKay on bass and Alec Mack on guitar.

Sunday’s set list included a host of well-known jazz favourites, including Pennies From Heaven (featured here), Autumn Leaves, Mood Indigo, Girl From Ipanema and more, a selection which hit the spot at a venue which was filled to capacity by local and visiting jazz fans.

Next up in the ‘Jazz at the Vic’ series is Rose Room on Sunday, December 1 - more on that to follow soon.
