Time is running out to secure your tickets for an evening of folk and acoustic music with Alan Reid and Rob Van Sante in Rothesay this weekend.
The duo appear at Bute Shinty Club this Saturday, November 14, when they’ll add their names to the increasingly illustrious list of artists to have performed on the island under the Transclyde Music banner.
Both Reid and Van Sante can boast of long associations with The Battlefield Band, legends of the Scottish traditional music scene: Reid’s keyboard playing and singing underpinned the band’s sound from its inception in 1969 until he left to seek pastures new in 2010, while Van Sante was the group’s sound engineer for 13 years.
Together they have released four albums on the Red Sands Records label - 2002’s Under the Blue, followed by The Rise and Fall o’ Charlie (2009), The Adventures of John Paul Jones (2012), telling the life story of a Scots-born mariner, and Rough Diamonds in 2014.
The last few tickets for this Saturday’s gig can be bought in advance from Musicker on (01700) 502287 or Macqueen’s butchers on (01700) 502067. We’ll see you on Saturday night!
