Details have been announced this week of a major new family-friendly addition to Bute’s programme of events for the summer of 2015.

ButeFest will take place in Rothesay over three days from July 17 to 19 next year, combining top quality live music and family activities with the best in Scottish food and drink.

Among the bands booked for the event are Tiree-based ceilidh band Skerryvore, the Peatbog Faeries from Skye and Glasgow’s Treacherous Orchestra, who played in Hyde Park last month for BBC Radio 2.

Camping facilities will also be provided at the festival site, located at the south end of the Meadows in Rothesay, venue for the Bute Agricultural Society’s annual show every August.

Aidan Canavan, a member of the group behind ButeFest, told The Buteman: “This isn’t just going to be a music festival - it’s going to be about the music, the food, the beer, the family atmosphere, the whole thing - although the bands we’ve booked are pretty awesome.

“People are talking about it already and that has to be good for the island.”
