Bute’s programme of monthly winter jazz sessions has received a financial boost from local charity For Bute.

Their donation of £500 will help with the development of the Isle of Bute Jazz Festival’s ‘Jazz at the Vic’ series, which sees concerts held at the Victoria Hotel in Rothesay every month in the winter to support the annual festival each May.

“This is really exciting news for us,” Festival committee chairman Tim Saul said, “and because of For Bute’s generosity we can approach the winter series, which is always a bit of a financial risk, with a new sense of optimism.”

The For Bute donation will also help with the cost of a performance on the paddle steamer Waverley by Bute gypsy jazz quartet Les Gitanes, taking place on the famous ship’s cruise from Rothesay to Brodick and the Arran coast on Sunday, July 5.
