The organisers of next weekend’s ButeFest in Rothesay have received confirmation that all the licences they’ll need for the event have been granted.

Simon Kay from the ButeFest committee had previously told The Buteman that no last-minute stumbling blocks were anticipated from the various departments of Argyll and Bute Council charged with granting an alcohol licence, a public entertainments licence and a market trading licence.

Now Mr Kay’s organising colleague Emma Cooper has been in touch to tell us that all the required licences have been approved by the local authority.

The event, taking place on July 17, 18 and 19, is expected to attract between 1,500 and 2,000 people to the island, and has a line-up including Skerryvore, the Peatbog Faeries, Treacherous Orchestra and Federation of the Disco Pimp among a bill featuring almost 50 artists.
