Bute's Erskine fund-raising co-ordinator Elizabeth Speirs is presented with a donation of 1,300 by Tony Spencer following the Remembrance Day community concert at Mount Stuart.

The proceeds from Bute’s Remembrance Day community concert were presented to the Erskine charity for former service personnel this week.

Tony Spencer, who came up with the concert and was heavily involved in the event as musical director of both the Bute Community Band and the Island Voices choir, presented a donation of £1,300 to Elizabeth Speirs on Friday.

The money was raised from ticket sales, bar proceeds and donations at the November 11 concert at Mount Stuart which featured a programme of music on a First World War theme, one hundred years since the start of the Great War.

The donation takes the amount raised on Bute for Erskine in just the last few weeks to £2,500, following the success of the annual Help Us Help Erskine soup and sweet lunch hosted at Trinity Church.
