The committee of the annual Isle of Bute Jazz Festival, which starts on Friday, May 1, is asking island residents willing to act as ticket checkers for the event to come forward.

Festival chairman Tim Saul said: “Some members of the local community have already very kindly volunteered their services, but with up to seven venues and various start times on Friday afternoon, Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening, the more checkers we have the better.

“Even if you can just do one afternoon or one evening, I would love to hear from you. We depend on ticket revenue to balance our books so you would be carrying out an important job for us.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer can get in touch with Tim on 07880 564851, by email at sales@rothesaymusicshop.com or at Brechin’s on Bridgend Street from 10am to 2.30pm.
