The list of artists booked to perform at the 27th Isle of Bute Jazz Festival in May 2014 has been announced this week.

The bill for the 2014 festival includes many of the most popular acts from this year’s event, including Richard White’s Fivers, Havana Swing and the Chicago Teddy Bears Society Jazz Band, as well as new faces such as the Brownfield/Byrne Hot Six and Black Isle Jazz, and a welcome return for Penman’s Jazzmen.

The first fliers for the 2014 event were published along with details of the forthcoming series of off-season winter concerts put together by the festival’s organising committee.

The monthly winter series begins on Sunday, September 1, when Gitane Ecosse play at the Victoria Hotel in Rothesay, and also features Rose Room, Havana Swing, Penman’s Jazzmen and the Tim Kliphuis Trio - the latter in a concert organised and promoted by Bute Arts Society on Friday, November 1.

Festival committee chairman Tim Saul - whose Trio, Quartet and Quintet appear throughout the winter series and at the 2014 festival itself - said: “It’s a good line-up for next year’s event. It’s essential to book the bands you want as early as you can because they are much in demand.

“We also wanted to get the details of our off-season concerts out there early so people can plan their winter entertainment.”
