The chair of the charity formed to run the refurbished Rothesay Pavilion has praised the efforts of those behind a National Lottery funding bid for the project.

Nick Merriman expressed his thanks to those involved in the submission of a Stage 2 bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for around £3 million - the largest single source of funding for the regeneration of the building.

Mr Merriman said the preparation of the bid, which was submitted earlier this month, had involved “a huge amount of work” by consultant Jane Robertson and Argyll and Bute Council project development officer Peter McDonald.

“They deserve great thanks for all their efforts,” Mr Merriman said, “as do all of the individuals and organisations who kindly submitted letters of support for the project.”

The HLF board will make its decision on the Pavilion bid on January 27, 2015.
