Actress Elaine C. Smith says she wants to meet some ‘real Rothesay women’ on her visit to the town next month.
Elaine, best known for her portrayal of ‘Mary Doll’ in the long-running BBC comedy Rab C. Nesbitt, brings her ‘Still Standing - Just’ stage show to Rothesay Pavilion on Thursday, September 5.
Alongside the stage show, though, she’ll be bringing a film crew with her as part of a forthcoming TV series on Scots’ holiday destinations of yesteryear.
“We never get to see ourselves on television in Scotland,” Elaine told The Buteman. “We see plenty of stunning mountains, lochs and wildlife, but we never get to see the people.
“I’m particularly interested in meeting the real women who live in the places I’m visiting, because they don’t get on telly very often either - the women you meet in the hairdressers, for example.
“I’d love to meet people who have done remarkable things, or even ordinary things, or who have a story to tell.”
Tickets to Elaine C. Smith’s Rothesay show are available from Rothesay Pavilion on (01700) 504250 - if you know someone interesting who you think Elaine should meet during her visit to Bute, you can email suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org
