The organisers of the annual Bute Festival of Cycling - the ‘Rothesay Weekend’ - have issued an appeal for volunteers to help with the 2015 event.

The island’s cycling club, the Bute Wheelers, want to hear from anyone who is willing, and able, to join the team as a volunteer marshal for some or all of the festival, taking place this year on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.

The appeal comes in the same week that the club received a donation of £300 from local charity and thrift shop For Bute, to pay for the cost of safety lights on the escort vehicles used during the event.

Anyone able to volunteer as a marshal can email the event organiser, Murray Doyle, on info@butewheelers.org.uk or make contact through the festival’s Facebook page.

For general information on the event, see the official ‘Rothesay Weekend’ website.
