VIDEO: Rothesay’s fantastic day out with the Vikings

“A fantastic day out”...”a brilliant idea from those involved”...”please, let’s have more of this” - just three of the comments on At Land And Sea, the Viking-themed day which attracted many hundreds of people to Rothesay on Saturday.

From the sense of excitement and anticipation around the town in the days leading up to the event, and the number of people who made the Rothesay promenade busier than it’s been for many years on Saturday afternoon, it was clear people were expecting something special - and from the moment the Norse invaders set out on their mission to take Rothesay Castle by force from the defending Scots forces, right through to the firework display which brought the day to a close, they weren’t disappointed.

Rothesay Castle's Scots defenders - also known as pupils from Bute's three primary schools - prepare to confront the invading Norsemen.
