A month of ‘endings’ at Rothesay Pavilion continued this week with the final afternoon tea dance at the famous seafront building.

The weekly dances came to an end in 2014 after master-of-ceremonies John Denman moved to live in Dunoon, but John and his wife Kay made a one-off return to Rothesay this week to allow the members of the former Bute Dance Club to say a final farewell to the building, which will close at the end of this month for major refurbishment works costing more than £8 million.

Rothesay Pavilion's last traditional tea dance was held on September 9, 2015.

After the echoes of the last waltz died away John took a few moments to reflect on the end of a long-lived British seaside summer tradition in Rothesay.
